Emanuele Sommario

Associate Professor of Public International Law, Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies | Pisa Module Leader and Coordinator of EIHRSDS

Since 2018 Prof Sommario is the Director of the Scuola's Master in Human Rights and Conflict Management. Between 2013 and 2016 he has been unit coordinator of the International Disaster Law Project, a joint research endeavour financed by the Italian Ministry for University and Research. As from 2000, he is Programme Officer at the International Training Programme for Conflict Management of the Scuola.

He served as a key staff member in the EU Jean Monnet Module on “International and European Disaster Law” run by the University of Roma 3. He is Director or Co-Director of several courses, including the course on “International Disaster Law”, offered yearly by the International Institute of Humanitarian Law of Sanremo. He is also a member of the Editorial Committee of the Yearbook of International Disaster Law (Brill). 

He holds a PhD in International Law from the Scuola Sant’Anna and an LLM in Public International Law from the University of Nottingham (UK).

He is the Module Leader of the present initiative, in charge of the overall coordination of its activities and of delivering sessions within the organised course.
