La protezione dell’ambiente in relazione a situazioni di conflitto armato
The UN Commission on International Law has recently adopted the Draft Articles on the Protection of the environment in relation to armed conflicts. The Draft Articles are currently being considered by States and International Organisations, and will be debated in the UN General Assembly in this autumn. This is a dramatically topical subject, also in the light of recent events in Ukraine, Syria and other war contexts.
Prof Emanuele Sommario, EIHRSDS module leader, together with the International Law research area of the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna, in collaboration with the Legal Affairs Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy, and with the support of the Interest Group on "International Law and Armed Conflict" of the Italian Society for International and EU Law, has decided to devote some reflections to the work of the Commission, inviting a number of experts who will share their views on some of the topics addressed in the Draft Articles.
The event will be held (in Italian) on Friday 7 October, starting at 2 p.m., in the Aula Magna Storica of the Scuola. It will also be possible to attend remotely via the following link: https://santannapisa.webex.com/santannapisa/j.php?MTID=m511ba92ff12da6716d1e34009f7ed128.
